Product description Tea Set Honghe
Honghe is a Chinese tea set featuring a 860 ml teapot that holds enough tea to pour among six 180 ml cups. Thanks to the removable strainer, you stay in full control of the steeping process – once the tea reaches your desired strength, simply lift out the strainer with the leaves, and the brew stops getting stronger, ready to pour and enjoy together at the table.
Chinese ceramics and tea tradition
Tea culture gained widespread popularity in China during the Tang dynasty (618–907), and during the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) the practice of steeping dried tea leaves in a pot became the standard way of preparation. This long tradition naturally shaped the design of tea ware, crafted to make steeping, pouring, and sharing as comfortable as possible.
Honghe features a larger, rounded teapot with a tall arched handle. The ceramic is very light, nearly white, with a smoothly glazed surface decorated with a delicate raised ornamental pattern. Both the teapot and the cups are adorned with repeating round medallions bearing the character 茶, meaning tea.
What's included in the set?
- 860 ml ceramic teapot
- Six 180 ml ceramic cups
- Removable loose-leaf strainer
The 860 ml teapot is ideal for shared tea sessions and brewing larger quantities at once. The six 180 ml cups give you plenty of room to pour out the entire brew evenly among your guests.
The removable strainer lets you keep a close eye on steeping time. Once the tea reaches your desired strength, simply lift out the strainer with the leaves and the finished brew won't continue to intensify.
Our tip – how to brew loose-leaf tea with a removable strainer
Add the appropriate amount of loose-leaf tea to the removable strainer based on the type of tea and the amount of water you're preparing. Place the strainer in the teapot, pour in water at the temperature recommended for that particular tea, and let it steep for the recommended time.
Once the tea is ready, remove the strainer along with the tea leaves from the teapot. This stops the steeping process, and the finished brew can remain in the pot without continuing to strengthen.
If the tea you're using is suitable for multiple steepings, you can place the strainer with the leaves back into the teapot later and brew another round with fresh water. With each subsequent steep, follow the characteristics of that particular tea and adjust the steeping time to your taste.
Take a quiet moment for a tea ritual and discover the beauty of slowing down to prepare and enjoy your tea.
