Garuda – a story of courage, protection, and inner strength

According to ancient legends, Garuda is the king of birds and a mighty protector, one who does not bow even before the gods themselves. In Hindu mythology he serves as the mount of the god Vishnu, while in Nepali and Tibetan Buddhism he is associated with protection from danger and negative forces.

His greatest adversaries are the nagas – mysterious serpent beings said to rule over the aquatic and subterranean worlds. This is precisely why Garuda is so often depicted with a snake in his beak or talons. The snake in his beak represents victory over danger and the forces that may hold us back. In Buddhist symbolism this motif carries an even deeper meaning – it serves as a reminder of overcoming negative emotions, fear, and inner obstacles.

Garuda's horned form also references the Tibetan mythical bird khyung, a powerful protective being known from the ancient Bön tradition as well.

Garuda can thus remind you that true strength is expressed not only in the courage to face the world around you, but also in the ability to overcome your own fears, doubts, and everything that holds you back.

Please note: The mask has cracks in the wood on both the upper and lower sections, which are visible in the product photos. When mounting it on a wall, its size, weight, and the condition of the wood should all be taken into account.
