Product description Tibetan Incense Sticks Traditional Manjushree
Traditional Manjushree incense sticks take their name from the bodhisattva of wisdom, who holds a significant place in Nepalese Buddhism. According to ancient legend, it was Manjushree who used his sword to cut a gorge through the mountains, allowing a great lake to drain and giving rise to the Kathmandu Valley. These sticks are handcrafted in Nepal using the traditional masala method, blending aromatic herbs, flowers, spices, and natural resins.
Their fragrance weaves together the sweeter floral aroma of jasmine with the herbal character of Himalayan plants. Jasmine brings gently warming, lightly honeyed tones, while the herbal blend adds a natural, earthy quality to the scent. They are well suited for meditation, moments of rest, or simply filling your home with a beautiful fragrance.
What does Traditional Manjushree offer?
- Jasmine fragrance - sweet and floral
- Buddhist symbolism - Manjushree is the bodhisattva of wisdom and knowledge, a prominent figure in Nepalese legend.
- Traditional masala method - herbs, resins, spices, and flowers are worked directly into the incense paste rather than applied to a bamboo core. This means only the aromatic blend itself burns.
- Handmade in Nepal - every stick is shaped by hand, with no industrial processing.
- Holder included in the packaging
Traditional origins and use
These sticks are produced in Nepal following Tibetan recipes. The masala method involves blending all aromatic ingredients into a uniform incense paste, from which the sticks are hand-formed. Sticks made this way are traditionally used during puja as an aromatic offering, during meditation, or for the symbolic ritual purification of a space through fumigation. Of course, they can also simply be used to fill any interior with a pleasant fragrance.
How to use incense sticks?
- Light the tip of the stick and let it glow for a moment.
- Extinguish the flame with a quick wave of your hand.
- Place the stick in a dedicated incense holder or insert it into sand.
