Product description Teapot Trivet Iwachu Arare Black
The Iwachu Arare trivet is a cast iron accessory for Japanese Nanbu Tekki teapots that protects your table surface while complementing the traditional Japanese aesthetic. It pairs perfectly with Iwachu teapots featuring the Arare pattern as well as other pieces from the Nanbu Tekki collection.
Arare – the traditional pattern of Japanese cast iron
The surface of the trivet is decorated with the Arare pattern – delicate rounded bumps resembling hailstones. This is the most traditional and widespread decorative motif found on Japanese Nanbu Tekki cast iron ware. The pattern isn't purely ornamental: it increases the rigidity of the surface and helps distribute heat evenly throughout the cast iron.
Hand-finished cast iron from Morioka
The trivet is made by the family-owned company Iwachu in Morioka, Japan, where the tradition of crafting Nanbu Tekki cast iron ware has been upheld for centuries. Iwachu is one of the leading manufacturers of this type of cookware, and every piece is hand-finished.
