BlackBurn tobacco is made from the finest quality Toasted Burley leaves, which are known for their rich and deep flavour. The process of toasting these leaves ensures that the tobacco acquires the subtle bitterness that is a distinctive feature of the brand.

The unconventional method of production is the manufacturer's use of softening the tobacco in a special blend for 48 hours followed by fermentation for 2 weeks, as opposed to the usual cooking of raw tobacco leaves. This prolongs the process and gives the tobacco a specific flavour, while avoiding differences in the tobacco characteristics of the different production batches. A special corn syrup, made in the USA specifically for BlackBurn, gives the tobacco its characteristic flavour accent. It also gives the tobacco excellent heat properties and high resistance to heat.
