Exploring cultures through their traditional food and drink is a unique experience. In Morocco, these traditions inherently include Tuareg tea. This drink has an important social role and is often served as a sign of hospitality, for example when visiting markets where vendors offer it to their guests. It is customary to accept the tea and not negotiate the price while it is being served.

Moroccan mint is softer and less aromatic than the mint commonly grown in the Czech Republic, but still retains its refreshing spiciness. Gunpowder green tea adds light fruity notes, a distinct astringency and a fresh flavour to the blend. In Morocco, Tuareg is often served as a dessert tea that goes well with a variety of dishes – not only desserts, but also lamb, peas or fruit salads. It is usually prepared strong and strongly sweetened, which gives it an energizing and refreshing character.

Ingredients: Chinese tea tree (Camellia sinensis), Moroccan mint (Mentha maroccan).

Preparation (12 g of tea per 0.5 l of water):
Pour hot water over the tea and let it froth briefly over low heat. Then let stand for a while, strain and sweeten with sugar to taste. Weaker infusions can be drunk without sweetening and still offer a pleasant taste.
