Mineral stones have been attributed with various abilities since time immemorial, whether to heal, ward off misfortune or attract prosperity.

Amethyst has been known to humans since Neolithic times, and has been used for centuries for both jewellery making and a variety of spiritual purposes. It can often be found on the rings of medieval church dignitaries, where it was supposed to symbolize inner purity. It is a relatively common mineral in our countries and has several deposits, and we can see its processing on the tiles of the chapels at Karlštejn Castle and on the Czech crown jewels themselves.
