Product description Pareo Sarong Bali Flowers 02 Light Green 200 x 118 cm

Let yourself be wrapped in a beautiful sarong, handcrafted for you using traditional methods by skilled artisans on the Indonesian island of Bali. Find your unique piece. You'll turn heads not only on the beach or by the pool.

If you're looking for a truly versatile fashion accessory, a sarong is the perfect choice. The ways to wear and use a sarong are almost endless. You can wear it as a distinctive wrap skirt or elegant, lightweight dress with many different tying styles. On hot days, a sarong is an ideal garment — it feels wonderful against the skin, airy and breathable. In cooler weather, it works beautifully as a scarf or a light blanket. Spread it out at a picnic, or let it shine as an original piece of interior décor.

Sarong Design

Bali, known as the "Island of the Gods," boasts a remarkably diverse and beautiful flora. Flowers hold deep significance in various ceremonies, rituals, and celebrations. Floral patterns are therefore among the most beloved motifs used to adorn sarongs. In Balinese culture, flower symbols represent purity, beauty, life, and the fleeting nature of existence.

The hibiscus is a sacred flower dedicated to the gods Ganesha, Shiva, and the goddess Kali. Its blooms symbolize purity, refinement, elegance, and perfection.

The plumeria — known in Bali as frangipani or Jepun — with its five petals expresses the interconnectedness of all living beings with the universe. The frangipani flower represents the five elements of the universe: earth, water, fire, air, and ether.

Color

Colors hold deep-rooted symbolism in Balinese culture and play a significant role in everyday life. This is reflected in traditional Balinese clothing.

Green is the color of nature and balance, carrying a calming effect. It sits at the center of the color spectrum, harmonizing its warm red and cool blue ends. It encourages openness, clear thinking, compassion, and generosity. Green symbolizes the heart chakra, which governs our emotional balance and influences feelings such as love, empathy, and kindness — toward others as well as ourselves.

The Sarong Tradition in Bali

Bali is renowned for its rich and vibrant culture, into which clothing is undeniably woven. The sarong and its feminine variant known as kamben form an essential part of traditional Balinese dress — whether for religious and ceremonial occasions or everyday life.

Clothing in Bali is not merely a matter of fabric and style — it is perceived as a visual language. The forms and patterns of sarongs speak volumes about their wearers and the communities they come from. Each region of Indonesia takes pride in its unique motifs, which reflect the local cultural heritage.

A carefully chosen color and a distinctive pattern thus tell their own story. In other words, every individual thread and exceptional design serves a dual purpose: clothing not only beautifies, but also conveys a deeper spiritual message. What appears to be a simple piece of cloth transforms into an embodiment of faith and tradition.

The sarong also played a significant role as an expression of solidarity and pride during the Dutch colonization of Bali, when wearing it became an act of patriotism and loyalty.

Sarongs continue to hold the status of a national treasure in Indonesia to this day. Wearing one is also an expression of respect and tribute to the artisans who have breathed life into them through their handcraft.

Caring for the sarong
Hand washing is recommended.
