Craftsmanship with a Purpose

Amfora hookah bowls are handmade on a potter's wheel. This traditional method naturally compresses the clay, significantly increasing its strength, structural stability, and resistance to thermal shock or cracking. Subsequent high-temperature firing seals the pores within the material, creating a solid, virtually impermeable surface. As a result, the bowl handles heat stress exceptionally well, heats the tobacco evenly, and helps maintain a perfectly clean flavor profile.

Porcelain, Chamotte, and Their Combinations

Amfora bowls are crafted from various materials, meaning each behaves a bit differently during a session:

• Porcelain bowls feature a smoother, nearly non-porous surface. They excel at preserving the pure flavor of the tobacco and are incredibly easy to clean and maintain.
• Chamotte (fireclay) bowls have a more porous texture that absorbs more molasses from the tobacco, allowing it to fully unpack and maximize its strength and richness.
• Porcelain and chamotte blend bowls offer the best of both worlds. They provide the structural strength and durability of porcelain while retaining the natural, flavor-enhancing character of chamotte.

Turkish or Phunnel Bowl?

The Amfora product range includes both Turkish-style and phunnel bowls in various material finishes:

• The Turkish type features a classic multi-hole construction at the bottom. It is highly versatile and works exceptionally well with various packing styles and setups.
• The Phunnel variant, with its single raised central spire, is perfect for juicier tobaccos. It keeps the molasses inside the bowl where it belongs, promoting a denser, full-bodied flavor throughout your session.
