Each flag carries the Buddha's teachings (mantras and sutras) and a representation of the LUNGTA. Lungta means "wind horse" and is the Tibetan symbol of good fortune, creative energy and well-being. Tibetans hang paper or cloth flags with the image of Lungta at important Buddhist sites, passes and especially on mountain tops.
