Product description Silver Pendant Triquetra Uroboros
Silver pendant in the shape of a Triquerty, intersected by the Uroboros symbol.
Triquerta and Uroboros
The triquerta is an ancient symbol whose equivalent can be found in countless cultures around the world, but is most commonly associated with the Celts and Vikings. Originally used mainly as a protective but also as a magical symbol, pointing to the three aspects of the Triune Goddess: the virgin, the mother and the old woman. The number three was essential to the Celts' understanding of the world, symbolizing birth-life-death, body-mind-soul, earth-sea-heaven, etc. The symbol was later adopted by Christianity, which attributed to it the meaning of the holy trinity of father, son and holy spirit.
The earliest records of the Uroboros symbol come from ancient Egypt, from the Book of the Underworld, which served as funerary iconography. It was also called the "Tail in the Mouth" and symbolized the endless cycle of life that keeps repeating itself.
