Japanese Incense Sticks Nippon Sasara Bincho-Tan

Product description Japanese Incense Sticks Nippon Sasara Bincho-Tan

Nippon Kodo is one of the oldest and most respected manufacturers of Japanese incense sticks. With deep reverence for tradition, they continue the original, carefully guarded methods of working with rare natural treasures — aromatic woods, precious resins, sacred herbs, and fragrant flowers. With a commitment to the environment and the renewal of natural resources, combined with the instinctive sensitivity of modern perfumers and characteristic Japanese refinement, Nippon Kodo brings the finest fragrances into your home.

The magic of binchotan

Sasara Bincho-Tan incense sticks embody simplicity and lightness, while also reflecting a sophisticated level of craftsmanship. Their aroma comes from pure binchotan — "white charcoal" — still produced today using an ancient method, once a closely guarded secret, from ubame oak. Binchotan is highly prized for its exceptional purifying, harmonizing properties and its natural, unobtrusive aroma.

Nippon Kodo uses a prized variety from the Kishu region, complemented by bamboo charcoal and other ingredients. The sticks are crafted to release only a very small amount of visible smoke when burning. Their scent is almost imperceptible — reminiscent of a burning fireplace — making them ideal for meditation, quiet contemplation, or traditional Japanese ceremonies.

Nippon Kodo – over 400 years of Japanese fragrance tradition

Nippon Kodo is one of the most respected and renowned incense manufacturers in the world. Their story began over 400 years ago, when master perfumers created aromatic compositions for the Japanese imperial court. Deep knowledge of precious woods, herbs, and natural aromatic materials has been passed down from generation to generation, forming the foundation of everything Nippon Kodo creates to this day. Every stick carries a piece of that tradition — precise craftsmanship, finely balanced fragrances, and the distinctly Japanese sensitivity for harmony and detail.
