Pilgrims light scented strings during their meditations to maintain a state of mindfulness and awareness. The burning produces smoke that summons and pleases the gods. These strings are called Tibetan Dhupaya scented strings. The prepared mixture of high mountain herbs and precious woods is woven by hand into rice paper by Nepalese women. The Dhupaya fragrance strings bring one to awareness and introspection with their natural and powerful fragrance. They also purify spaces and have a strong aromatherapeutic effect.
