Shou Mei - Long Age Branch - this is the basic variety of Chinese white tea grown in Fujian Province, low in tein. The name Shou mei can be translated as Old Man's Eyebrows. The coarser, downy grey-green leaves are harvested while still immature from spring. In the past, this tea, full of natural antioxidants, was only supplied to the Imperial Court. It was most popular during the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD). The infusion is pale yellow in colour, with a delicate flavour.

The tea is stored in a container that prevents air, light and moisture from entering. The tea remains protected from the elements in the jar so that it does not degrade, such as becoming damp, wilted or weathered.
