Product description Chinese White Tea Shou mei - Longevity Eyebrow 100 g
Shou Mei - Eyebrows of long age - this is the basic variety of Chinese white tea grown in Fujian Province, low in tein. The name Shou mei can be translated as Old Man's Eyebrows. The coarser, downy grey-green leaves are harvested while still immature from the spring. In the past, this tea, full of natural antioxidants, was only supplied to the Imperial Court. It was most popular during the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD). The infusion is pale yellow in colour, with a delicate taste.
Recommended preparation of 10 g tea per 0.5 l pot:
Pour in water at 80–90 °C and infuse for 3–5 minutes.
Preparation of 3 g tea in 150 ml gaiwan:
1st and 2nd infusion: water 80°C, infusion 20–50 seconds
3rd to 5th infusion: water 90–95°C, infusion 40, 70 and 90 seconds
Preparation Tip:
The times given should be taken as a guide. Feel free to pour off a small amount of tea to taste during the infusion and pour off or leave to continue infusing, depending on your taste. If you like a stronger taste, feel free to add more tea leaves, choose a higher water temperature or increase the steeping time. Experiment — that's how you'll discover what you like best!
Recommended preparation of tea in a 0.6L teapot:
first infusion
- put 1-1.5 spoons of tea into the teapot so that the bottom of the teapot is roughly covered.
- pour boiled water at a temperature of 70°C over the tea.
- leave to steep for 3-5 minutes, taste during this time and, depending on your preferences, leave to steep longer or strain.
second infusion
- again, pour boiled water over the tea, this time at a temperature of 70-80°C
- let it steep for about 5-7 minutes (more or less depending on your taste), and once the infusion suits your taste, strain it.
Note for preparation: the times given are approximate and it is good, for example, to pour off some tea after a certain time of infusion, taste it and, if necessary, strain the whole infusion or let it continue to infuse. The tea should be to your liking, and if you prefer stronger teas, for example, use more leaves or extend the steeping time. Don't be afraid to experiment with the tea, it's the only way to discover the flavours that suit you best.
